HISTORY

HPAD Basketball was founded in 2023 with a mission to raise the standard of youth basketball development in Western Canada. What began as a focused, high-intent training initiative has grown into one of Edmonton’s most ambitious and fast-moving programs. In just a short time, HPAD has helped players earn placements at Canadian and U.S. prep schools, expanded training access from U14 to high school, and built a culture rooted in discipline, accountability, and real progression, not shortcuts.

Although HPAD operates as a for-profit organization, the heart of the program is service-driven. Families invest in a premium experience, and in return we deliver structure, professionalism, and year-round support that reflects the highest expectations in youth sports.

The 2026 season marks our first pursuit of national competitive recognition through MADE Hoops and Bigfoot Basketball, the beginning of our journey toward official circuit team status.

HPAD is built by coaches and leaders who grew up in this community, understand the gaps, and are committed to developing players the right way. Even in our early years, the trajectory speaks for itself.

PHILOSOPHY

At HPAD, development is not a slogan; it’s a standard. We believe that who a player becomes off the court will always dictate who they are on it. Discipline, accountability, honesty, and work ethic are not “basketball values”; they’re life values. Our program exists to build young people who operate with integrity in the classroom, at home, at their jobs, and in every environment that demands maturity.

We don’t promise shortcuts or illusions of success. We build habits. We build self-belief. We build athletes who understand that progress requires sacrifice, and that excellence comes from doing the uncomfortable things consistently. Every player who enters HPAD receives the same thing: truth.

We coach with clarity, we communicate directly, and we never sugarcoat feedback. Growth only happens when players are challenged, held to a real standard, and supported through the process, not protected from it. We are a for-profit program with the heart of a non-profit, because everything we do is rooted in service. Families invest in us, and we match that investment with structure, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to each athlete’s long-term development. Whether a player’s goals are to compete at the next level or simply to become a disciplined, confident young adult, we prepare them for both.

On the court, our identity is built on fundamentals, decision-making, and the ability to play within a system. We demand effort, body language, communication, and the “small details” that separate real basketball players from recreational ones. We don’t chase highlights, we build complete athletes who understand the game and respect it.

Above all, our philosophy is simple: When young players leave HPAD, they do this more disciplined, more confident, and more capable than when they arrived. We are not here to fit into the landscape. We are here to raise the standard.
